The secret to a child’s success is that they are having fun while they are learning! We create a fun environment for the children to achieve their goals, especially -
ECIS key worker's support is available through the transdisciplinary model of practice.
Our Early Childhood Intervention focuses on giving children the tools they need to gain independence and actively participate in occupations or activities that are meaningful to them and their families. We follow the ECEI best practice model and provide true Key Worker model of support recommended by NDIS.
A child’s “occupation” is to learn, play, participate in school and community activities, and become independent in self-help skills. Children rely on parents, caregivers, and teachers to foster healthy development.
For this reason, Early Childhood Intervention Service focuses on supporting both the child and their families to develop the sensory, cognitive, motor and physical skills children need for successful participation in everyday life.
In therapy we create an individualised plan to build upon your child’s strengths and address the areas of development requiring extra attention.
We aim to help your child grow, by improving his or her skills and self esteem by providing the “just right challenge” in a play based setting.
Our model for treatment has a strong foundation in improving functional performance with an emphasis on sensory based therapy, goal oriented skills development and parent empowerment.
We offer a wide range of occupational therapy services, including Home modification, Equipment prescription, and Rehabilitation therapy for adults.
The goal for Early Childhood Early Intervention services at Ability Beyond Therapy is to provide client-centred therapy to address the child’s functioning in a variety of settings, so they can achieve their highest level of independence.
Our therapists strive to increase the child’s overall independence across all environments and support families in building routines and roles that allow for children to interact and participate in their environments.
You know your family best and the therapists at Ability Beyond Therapy want to work together to meet the goals you have for your child and family.
We are trained in and implement The Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) feeding approach. This approach is a developmental feeding therapy program that allows the child to interact with the food in a playful, non-stressful way. It helps increase the child’s comfort level by exploring different properties of foods, including the colour, shape, texture, smell, taste and consistency.
The SOS approach follows a systematic hierarchy to feeding, from tolerating foods in the room, interacting with foods, smelling, touching, tasting and eventually eating the food. Parent education and involvement are an essential part of the SOS approach. Parents can be directly involved in the sessions.
However, every child is different and unique, and we find that some may need a slightly different approach which is why we do not follow this approach strictly with every child. Some children benefit from some aspects of a soft behavioural approach to feeding.
We custom tailor our approach for each of our children based on a number of factors that we discuss with you at every step of the way.
