The secret to a child’s success is that they are having fun while they are learning! We create a fun environment for the children to achieve their goals, especially -
ECIS key worker's support is available through the transdisciplinary model of practice.
Our paediatric occupational therapy focuses on giving children the tools they need to gain independence and actively participate in occupations or activities that are meaningful to them and their families.
A child’s “occupation” is to learn, play, participate in school and community activities, and become independent in self-help skills. Children rely on parents, caregivers, and teachers to foster healthy development.
For this reason, paediatric occupational therapy focuses on supporting both the child and their families to develop the sensory, cognitive, motor and physical skills children need for successful participation in everyday life.
In therapy we create an individualised plan to build upon your child’s strengths and address the areas of development requiring extra attention.
We aim to help your child grow, by improving his or her skills and self esteem by providing the “just right challenge” in a play based setting.
Our model for treatment has a strong foundation in improving functional performance with an emphasis on sensory based therapy, goal oriented skills development and parent empowerment.
Ability Beyond Therapy is registered with TIS national interpreting services and offering interpreters for all languages.
The goal for Early Childhood Early Intervention services at Ability Beyond Therapy is to provide client-centred therapy to address the child’s functioning in a variety of settings, so they can achieve their highest level of independence.
Our therapists strive to increase the child’s overall independence across all environments and support families in building routines and roles that allow for children to interact and participate in their environments.
You know your family best and the therapists at Ability Beyond Therapy want to work together to meet the goals you have for your child and family.
A paediatric music therapist provides research-based ECEI and allied health support in which music is used to actively support children to help with their developmental needs, improve communication, functioning and well-being.

Gross motor skills are the larger movements you make with your arms legs, feet, or entire body.
· Improve fine motor function and control
Fine motor skills are the smaller movements you make using your wrists, hands, fingers, feet and toes.
· Improve balance
· Increase physical independence
· Help regulate heart rate, breathing rate and blood pressure
· Improve respiratory muscle strength and control

We are trained in and implement The Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) feeding approach. This approach is a developmental feeding therapy program that allows the child to interact with the food in a playful, non-stressful way. It helps increase the child’s comfort level by exploring different properties of foods, including the colour, shape, texture, smell, taste and consistency.
The SOS approach follows a systematic hierarchy to feeding, from tolerating foods in the room, interacting with foods, smelling, touching, tasting and eventually eating the food. Parent education and involvement are an essential part of the SOS approach. Parents can be directly involved in the sessions.
However, every child is different and unique, and we find that some may need a slightly different approach which is why we do not follow this approach strictly with every child. Some children benefit from some aspects of a soft behavioural approach to feeding.
We custom tailor our approach for each of our children based on a number of factors that we discuss with you at every step of the way.
Our lead clinician Debashis (Debu) Mondal is an AHPRA registered Occupational Therapist. He focuses on providing a fun and captivating environment where children are actively engaged in therapy. His warm and kind-hearted spirit attracts even the most apprehensive child.
Debu has 11 years of continuous clinical and leadership experience as a paediatric occupational therapist with two prominent early childhood intervention providers in Victoria. He had 8 years prior experience working in an autism specialised school, mental health services, paediatric physical disability, community-based rehabilitation and spinal & stroke rehabilitation.
Debu is an Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS ) trained therapist and experienced working within a renowned autism assessment clinic in Northern Melbourne.
He has always had a passion for working with children and their families and a passion for learning. He is certified in the SOS approach to feeding, specialised sensory based intervention, integrated listening, aquatic occupational therapy and many more areas of paediatric occupational therapy. He has an exceptional ability to connect with children who are usually on their own agenda and reluctant to engage.
Debu is a loving father who enjoys his free time with family, traveling, going to sports & fishing and sharing household activities with his wife.
Dewi Pearce is a Registered Music Therapist (RMT) with the Australian Music Therapy Association, a member of AHPA (Allied Health Professions Australia).
Dewi takes pride in supporting children through the crucial years of their development, and has a passion for engaging families to help their child excel. Her expertise in using music as a therapeutic tool has helped children increase their communication skills, improve their motor skills, harness their emotional expression, and create new social connections.
Dewi has 16 years of experience as an RMT, with 14 of those years occurring in paediatric settings. She has provided clinical music therapy to hospital patients in two of the prestigious Parkville precinct hospitals. She worked for 4 years at a Special Development School, 8 years in community therapy settings, and worked 5 continuous years with a prominent early childhood intervention provider in the Hume region.
Dewi loves to see a child's face light up when they play an instrument or coordinate the dance moves to a favourite song or finally succeed in singing a song lyric. Music Therapy is nicknamed a "sneak therapy", because participants usually don't associate music with 'work' toward their therapy goals.
Joanna (Jo) has an extensive background in allied health, working with adults and children with special needs. She has a great understanding of childhood development, and this has fuelled her passion in providing support to children and their families to reach their full potential.
Jo is highly experienced in group facilitation, 1:1 AHA support, implementing therapy plan, peer support, parent education and service coordination. She is also the administrative assistant at Ability Beyond Therapy.
A mother of two, Jo loves coffee, making handcrafted soap, and spending quality time outside with her family and pet chickens. She looks forward to continuing to support children and families at Ability Beyond Therapy..
